Gooding Mays 1st Will
In the name of God Amen
Where as I Gooding Mays senior being weak in body but in perfect mind and memory and knowing the mortality of the body and that it is apportioned each for man to die make this my last will and testament in manner and form as follows which is to say my will and desire is and I do give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Phebe Mays all my land and dwelling house for her purposes and benefit during her natural life and all of my household and kitchen furniture during her natural life and my will and desire is that she have all my stock of horses cattle and hogs during her natural life and one bed and furniture to dispose of in any way that she sees fit and my will and desire is that at the death of my beloved wife my daughter Elizabeth Mays to have all the land and dwelling house for her own proper use during her natural life or marriage and at her death or marriage the said land be sold and the profit there of be equally divided then among my living children also at the death of my beloved wife my desire is that all my personal property not other wise disposed of shall be equally divided among my living children. I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Elizabeth Mays one bed and furniture to her and her heirs forever and I do hereby revoke and disavow all wills and gifts by me here to fore made and so make this my last will and testament and I do appoint my son Gooding Mays and my daughter Elizabeth Mays as the executors of this my last will and testament given under my hand seal this first day of October 1834 In presences of us
