In the name of God Amen. I Stith Mays
of the county of Rutherford, State of North Carolina being of sound and
perfect mind and memory though weak in body do bless God, do the 26th day of
July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty-seven, do
make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following that is
to say, first all my just
debts to be paid, then I give and bequeath
unto my beloved wife Sisly Mayes all the remains of my person and real estate
during her natural life or widowhood and after her death or marriage if
another marriage should take place, then all my person & real estate to be
equally divided among all my children, Boseman Mays, Dolly Blanton, Stith
Mayse, John Mayes, Stephen
Mayes, Susanna roach, Sally Mayes,
Nancy Thompson Mayes, James Fletcher Mayes, Patsey Mayes and if another
marriage should take place, I then give and bequeath unto my beloved wife
Sisly Mayes as much of my estate as the executors may think will support her
during her life. And I hereby make and ordain my beloved son Stephen
Mayse and Wryley Blanton executors of this my last will and testament.
In witness whereof I Styth Mayse have to this my last will and testament set
my hand and seal the day and year above written. Stith
