Will of Elizabeth Line Mayes second wife of Green Berry Mayes
24 Sept 1888; Hamblen County, Tennessee
In view of the uncertainty of life and certainly of death and wishing to dispose of all my property after my death, I the undersigned, Elizabeth Mayes of Hamblen County Tennessee do make and publish this my last will and testament, never having hereafore made any other will that is to say;
First I give and bequeath to my brother William Line; to my sister Edy Patton, formerly Line; to my sister
Harrett Line and my nephew Thomas N Smith, the son of my deceased sister, Mary Smith, the sum of five dollars each to be paid them by my executor as soon after my death as practicable.
Second, I give and bequeath to my nephew Isaac D. Walker, son of deceased sister Caroline, the sum of ten dollars in cash to be paid to him by my executor as soon after my death as practicable and I also give said Isaac D Walker one bed and bedding for the same to be delivered to him immediately after my death.
Third I give and bequeath to George son of my nephew A.P. Line, my large bible as testimony of my regards for him.
Fourth all the rest and residue of my estate consisting of the land where I now live, and of household and kitchen furniture and other property, I do hereby give and
devise and bequeath to my dais nephew A. P. Line to have, hold, use and enjoy for and during the period of his natural life after my death. And at the death of the said A. P. Line all the property real and personal in this clause of my will mentioned, is to go to the children of the said A. P. Line or such of them as may be living at the time of his death as an absolute estyate in Fee Simple.
In this will I do not make any provisions for the children of my deceased husband by his first wife because in the first place they are not my children nor of kin to me and because in the second place I relinquished for their benefit my rights of dower in the lands of my said husband, G. B. Mays giving them the benefit of my dower rights.
