This indenture made this 1st day of January 1855, between John H. Mayes of the County of Sumner and State of Tennessee, District 16, of the First Part and Moses P. Mayes, of the Second Part of the County of Sumner and the State of Tennessee (Witnesseth) that I the said John H. Mayes, have this day bargained and sold and delivered mto the M. P. Mayes a certain tract or parcel of land lying in Sumner County Tennessee on the waters Stradin branch for the sum of Two Hundred and Fifty Dollars, to me paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged. The above land is bounded as follows (to wit) Beginning at a Post Oak an the Kentucky line James M. Hastens, the corner running West with the State line Fifty Two poles to a Black Oak, thence South with Edwards Corner, thence South with Edwards line to Perkins corner, thence East with Perkins line to Post Oak, and Spanish Oak where Aldersons and Perkins intersect running North with Aldersons and Hastens WestBoundary Line 162 poles to the Beginning containing 51 Acres more or less above land, I the said J. H. Mayes do warrant and defend the title from myself, heirs, executors, administrators, etc. and from every person or persons whatsoever to the said Moses P. Mayes and his heirs so witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand, and seal the day and year above witten.

Personally appeared before me John S. Bugg, Clerk of the County Court, of said County John H. Mayes the bargainer with whom I am personally acquainted and who acknowledged that he made and executed the within Deed for the purposes therein contained. Witness my hand at office the 28th March 1857. Received for Registration 30 th March 1857
