Indenture made this Sixth day of April One Thousand Seven hundred & ninety
six between Daniel Mayes of the County of Nottoway of the one Part and William
Foard of the County aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Daniel
Mayes for and in consideration of the sum of One hundred pounds ten Shillings
Current money of Virginia to him in hand paid at or before the sealing and
delivery of these presents hath covenanted bargained and sold by these presents
doth grant bargain and sell unto the said William Foard his heirs and assigns
all that Tract of Land situate lying and being in the county aforesaid
containing one hundred acres of Land be the same more or less and Bounded as
followeth Beginning at a black Jack corner at Andersons More Line Thence East a
long his line to William Cryers line Thence along his line to a corner turkey
oak in his line thence south a long Daniel Mayes line to a corner stone in his
line thence west to the Spring branch thence down the spring branch to a corner
ash on the said branch thence west along the new line to a face corner in
Matthew Wells line thence along his line to the Beginning and the said Daniel
Mayes hath bargained and sold and by these presents doth bargain and sell all
and singular the appertenances to the said Tract of Land respectively belonging
and the reversion reversions remainder and remainders thereof and every part
and parcel thereof and all the Right title and interest of him the said Daniel
Mayes if in and to the said Land or any part thereof the same To have and To
hold all and singular the said Land and Premisses with their appertenances unto
the Sd. William Foard his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof
of him the sd William Foard his heirs and assigns forever & the said Daniel
Mayes for himself the said Land and premisses with their & every of their
appertenances to the said William Foard his heirs and assigns shall warrant and
forever Defend by these presents against all persons whatsoever doth grant
covenant and agree to and with the said William Foard his heirs and assigns
that the said Daniel Mayes at the time of the sealing and delivery of these is
and stands in fee simple of and in the premisses and that the same shall
forever remain to the said William Foard his heirs and assigns from all manner
of other Bargains sails titles of Dowry and other Rights and estates
Whatsoever. In Witness whereof the Said Daniel Mayes hath hereunto set his hand
and affixed his seal the day and year first above written.
