My name is Paul Edward Burd
My mother is Emily Phyllis Burd, nee Cyrus She was born Feb. 6, 1921 at Pinch, W.VA. She married Darwin, son of Raymond and Anna Hart Burd, on Jan. 24, 1945.
Her mother was Nellie Margaret Cyrus, nee Mundy. She was born Jan. 21, 1894 at Kentuck (Fletcher) West Va. She married Emory A., son of Kenniman and Mary Lucas Belcher of Elk Two Mile (Rutledge) West Va, Nov. 8, 1913. She was widowed and married Andrew M, son of Marion and Lydia Beasley Cyrus of Elk Two Mile Apr. 21, 1920. She is buried in Miller Cemetery, Miller, Ohio
Her mother was Lenora Frances (Leah) Mundy, nee Mays. She was born 6 July 1874 at Kentuck (Fletcher) West VA. She married Charles Henry, son of John R. and Maria Brown Mundy of Belgrove, W Va in 1891. She died at Campbells Creek (Coal Fork) W Va 4 Dec. 1933 and is buried in Crowder Cemetery, Elk Two Mile W Va.
Her father was James Henry Mays. He was born 15 Feb 1842 in Amherst Co, VA. He married Cleopatra (Sis), daughter of Jesse and Victoria Hatcher, soon after the Civil War ended. He was widowed and married his wife's cousin, Mary Elizabeth, daughter of Uriah and Martha Ellen Good Hatcher, on 9 June 1886. He served in the Confederate Army in Company F, 22nd Virginia Infantry. He died 4 Dec. 1928 and is buried beside his first wife in the Cleek Cemetery at Kentuck. Mary Elizabeth died 6 Dec. 1955 and is buried in Goshen Cemetery, Kentuck.
His father was Edwin Pierce Mays. He was born about 1820 in Amherst County, VA. He married Martha Ann Carter, daughter of Job and Adeline Flood Carter, 16 Oct. 1837 in Amherst, with his guardian Dr. Robert Wingfield consenting. He married Sarah (Sally) Howard about 1862. He died about 1871 in Summers County, West Virginia and is burried in the cemetery at the old Greenbrier Baptist Church in Alderson, West VA.
His father was Pierce W. Mays. He was born about 1785 in
Amherst County, VA. He married Polly Fulcher 30 Sep 1805 in Amherst. He was
widowed and married Nancy Robinson 25 Jan. 1821. He died in Monroe County, VA
(later West VA), about December 1822 , reportedly during an Indian attack while
he was serving in the militia and is buried at the mouth of Muddy Creek. Pierce Mays was married three times instead
of just twice. His first wife was Sarah Fulcher, sister of his second
wife, Polly. Pierce and Sarah had one daughter, Maria who
married Thomas Smith, then a Hughes.
His father was Robert Mays. He was born about 1731. He married Elizabeth Bolling, possibly the daughter of Benjamin & Mary Latham Bolling of Stafford Co., VA., on 27 Dec. 1756 in Stafford County, VA. He was widowed and married Susannah Wade, daughter of Pierce and Mary Ballinger Wade, on 4 Sep 1780 in Amherst County, VA. He died about 18 July 1808 in Amherst County VA.
