This indenture made this ___ of October, One thousand Seveen hundred and Eighty Four, between Peter Mayo of the County of Pitt in the providence of North Carolina of the one part and Nemiaha Downs of the county of Pitt and promises aforesaid other part, witnesseth that the said Peter Mayo for and in consideration of the sum of twenty five pounds current money in hand paid by the said Nehemiah Downs hath bargained and sold unto said Nehemiah Downs a certain part  or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Pitt on the East side of Cosito Creek being fifty acres ___ at a water Oak near the said creek running thence by a Contract line of the said Peter Mays and ___ ___ to the main Road thence up the road till a perial line to the creek and ___ the creek to the first station to ___ fifty acres. To have and to hold said tract of land to him the said Nehemiah Downs his heirs and assignes with all ___ waters, water ____ wood, under wood and all the singular appertainances unto belongins appertaining ___ as also the Revision and revisions  ___ and remaining rent, ___ and ___ of the same to him the said Nemehiah Downs his heirs and assings forever ___ the only proper use and behoof of the said Nemehiah Downs heirs and assings forever and the said Peter Mays ____ himself his heirs  ___  ___ promise and agree with the said Nemehiah Downs his heirs ____ ___ ___ said Nememiah Downs his heirs or assigns  ___ and shall ___ __ ____ and  ___ possess  (The rest is hard to read.
