In the name God amen I Pearce Wade of the County of
Amherst being weak in body but of Sound memory (Blessed be God) do this 13th
Day of Dec. in the year of our Lord one Thousand Seven hundred and Sixty nine
make & Publish this my last Will and Testament in manner Following Imprimis
I commend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it and my Body to the
Earth to be Decently buried at the discretion of my Executors hereafter named.
Item after my Just and Lawful Debts are paid by my Executors Item my will is
that my wife Elizabeth Wade have a Quiet Possession on the Plantation whereon I
now live with a Decent Livelyhood so Long as She remains a Widow & also I
Leave her my Bed & furniture During Widowhood Item I Give to my Daughter
Susanna Wade when my younges Child comes of age and Equal part in my Estate to
her & her heirs Lawfully begotton. Item my Daughter Elisabeth I leave five
Shillings for her Legacie is paid & likewise my Daughter Abigil Hardwick is
paid Item my will is that my whole Estate be Kept together till my Youngest
Child Comes of age and then my Land Stock & Negroes to be Sold &
Equally Divided amongst my Children together with all my Houshold furniture
Lastly I make & ordain Ambrose Rucker, Richard Peter, Richard Shelton,
James Crews Executors of this my Will in Trust for the Intents and purposes in
this my Will Contained in this Sheet of Paper and I do hereby Revoke all former
& other Wills heretofore by me made Either By word or writing & my
Executors are to take Care and see this my Will performed According to my true
Intent and meaning.
In Witness whereof I the said Pearce Wade have to this
my Last Will and Testament set my hand & Seal the Day & Year above
written.

Wade as and for his Last will and Testament in the presence of us who were
present at the Signing and Sealing thereof

At a court held for Amherst County at the
Courthouse the fifth day of March 1770 This last Will and Testament of Pearce
Wade Decd was presented in Court for proof and proved by the oaths of John
Dawson & Thomas Watts, two of the witnesses thereto and Ordered to be
Recorded, and Elizabeth the widow of the said decedent personally appeared in
Court and Renounced the Administration of the same and Declared that she would
not except receive or take any Lagacie or Lagacies to her given or bequeathed
thereby or any part thereof and did renounce all benefits and advantages which
she might claim by the said Will And at a Court held for the said County the
Seventh Day of May 1770 Certificate for Administration with the will annexed is
granted to John Hardwick he having taken the Oath of an Executor and with
Daniel Gains Joseph Magann & Ballinger Wade his Securities entered into
& acknowledged their Bond in the penelty of one Thousand and five hundred
pounds with the Condition required by Law.
